Dear Soccer Referee:
It is hard to believe that the 2009 soccer season is almost here. The season is set to start on Saturday, March 28 and will end on May 16. Just like last year, the games will be played on Saturday mornings with the first game starting at 9:00 am. There will be no games on May 9 due to the Norton Recreation Commission track and field day. As always, the referees play an integral part in helping to keep the games an enjoyable experience for the players. Remember, the referee’s purpose is to ensure a FAIR, SAFE and FUN environment. I think that the referees last year did an excellent job and I heard numerous positive comments from the public. In keeping with our tradition, I would like to schedule the following:
Saturday, March 21 Basic Referee Training
9:00 am to 4:00pm Prairie Land Electric Basement W. Hwy 36 (Lunch/Refreshments Provided)
***You only need to attend the Basic referee training if you want to have a refresher course or wish to upgrade your current certification. I do need to know if you will be attending to make sure I order enough food and course materials.
Sunday, March 22 Referee Meeting and Law Changes
6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Prairie Land Electric Basement
*Please try to attend this short meeting to get us ready for the season. The passwords for the web page will be issued to assist in scheduling.
If you know of anyone who might be interested in attending any of the scheduled referee training, please let me know as soon as possible. Please look over your referee uniforms and if anything needs replaced or you can’t find something, I need to know before the meeting to get a replacement ordered. It is very important for us to get together before the season starts and review a couple of items. Please reply either via e-mail or phone to let me know if you are going to referee this year and whether you can attend the meeting on March 22. The new law books should be in soon. I will get them to you as soon as I can. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and I look forward to seeing you on March 21 and/or March 22. Don’t forget about the web site at www.ayso1365.org. Please take a look and note the referee scheduling page.
